Pizza
Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.
Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.
Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

for starters, i'm coming back to stella barra. they have way too many quality pies to only go once. i went with a group of peeps and we opted to get a bunch of pizzas & a couple apps and share them all. as it turns out, this is a very economical idea. the apps we chose were the calamari, pork meatballs, & baked goat cheese. or, in a word, octopigoat. the meatballs were far and away my favorite of the 3. great use of basil and other italian seasonings. huge, um, balls and good marinara. tasty and juicy. the calamari was fried wonderfully crispy, but was a bit tasteless without the aioli. the baked goat cheese was creamy and salty. which is what it's supposed to be. on to the pies. which, despite the fact that we ordered 5 at the same time, all came within 20 minutes. this was on a tuesday night. margherita: this was a surprise favorite. i'm normally not a person who enjoys this genre of pizza. mainly because no meat. but this was refreshingly yummy. housemade pork sausage: as far as sausage pizzas go, this was a good pizza. i wouldn't call it great (even though i was hoping for it on this one). the sausage was crisp, served in a ground-up fashion. it blends quite well with the mozzarrella and is on my list to get again. smoked bacon and goat cheese: do i really need to tell you this was good? seriously. bacon. shaved mushroom: my least favorite of the pizzas we tried. it was too salty for me. chatham riccotta: yes. also a surprise favorite. this one was devoured quickly at our table. the pesto is fantastic and should be revered as the national treasure it is. i would eat this pizza all day stella barra also has a small selection of local brews on tap, which is a great plus. i savored the doggie style. and i'm glad i did.

The best part was the burrata ($14), which comes with some fantastic grilled bread and grapes. Both have a smokey flavor that goes well with the very soft, very spreadable cheese. The pizzas were pretty good (I don't love eating crusts but found this one reasonably tasty on its own). We got the sausage red pizza and the spinach and kale white pizza (each $15). I thought that the kale and spinach might be cooked a little differently-- I've had places that kind of make little blobs with them so they don't get SO dried out-- but this was just layers of greens placed on top of the pizza, so the top layers were kind of burnt. The brussels sprouts were the worst ($10), because I think they fried them at too high of a heat. The insides weren't that cooked (I like it when the layers separate a little bit so it's not just one hard chunk when you bite into it) but the outside layers were kind of bitter and burnt-tasting. So many places do fried brussels sprouts right now, so that was pretty disappointing. Service was good; our waiter was really nice about doing my friend's wine separately when we wanted to split the bill. I agree that the space is a bit dark compared to Summer House next door, but I don't mind the brick walls.
(3)Vladimir R.
Pros: Good pizza, both white and red pies. Very friendly and attentive service. Cons: The design is a bit strange and not in a good way. It feels like at very last moment Summer House's owners decided to convert a restroom corridor into a dining area. It is not that narrow, but the feeling is there. Maybe the reason a total lack of windows, but the end result is that you do not want to spend time inside. It is a shame since we liked our pizza a lot.

Note *Open table doesn't allow you to make reservations of 7+ on the site for them ( but it just says a reservation is unavailable- like the table is booked), so call them up if you have a big party. There's quite a dichotomy between Summer House Santa Monica & Stella Barra. Two restaurants, shared by the same restaurant group, placed directly next to each, connected at the hip and kitchen. One: light, open, and airy with swooping white cloth that accents stark white walls. One: dark, narrow, and closed off, accented by exposed brick with a hard finish and dimly lit Edison bulbs. It's was a bit odd to sit in the back of Stella Barra at the table closest to the kitchen and look directly into the light side, but I have to tell you- I did quite enjoy the dark side... (evil laughter) "The dark side are they. Once you start down the dark path, forever will it dominate your destiny" - yoda Started off with the pork meatballs. A nice portion of 4 meatballs, piled high on the plate, sitting atop bright sauce. Seasoned very well, all together very sumptuous. The calamari on the other hand was not a winner in my book. They felt a bit heavy, a smaller portion than I would have liked, and overall nonplussed. The calamari at Summer House is quite fantastic. I was expecting something like that- but was disappointed. The baked cheese was a hot spreadable dip that gained this reviewer's favor albeit my moderate dislike of goat cheese. Pizzas were quite tasty. A large crusty ring of dough around each one made for a hearty treat at the end of each slice. Favorites were the margarita and the shaved mushroom (though I would get the mushroom without rosemary- as I think rosemary's texture on the palette is a bit unsettling) The bacon pizza didn't win me over as I thought the flavors were a bit at odds with each other. But the salad of shaved zucchini and squash with arugula had me wishing the portion was larger. Winners: Margarita Pizza Shaved Mushroom Pizza Pork Meatballs Arugula Salad

The Lettuce Entertain You group has brought a clever concept of contrasting environments in their two new restaurants at Pike & Rose. Surprisingly, you get an eerie feeling that Summer House and Stella are related despite the vastly different decor. The interior designer who designed the layout is very clever. Once you walk inside the complex, you'll see the white and bright Summer House to your left and the dimly lit and darkish decor to your right at Stella. Unfortunately, this is about the most notable and positive thing I could mention about Stella. I can't complain or say anything too positive about the burrata since it's almost guaranteed you get a baseline level of quality. After all how on earth can you mess up a burrata? The pizza on the other hand was a complete flop. While I show no strong aversion to goat cheese, the goat cheese was off mark, the sauce was too sweet, the texture of the dough was off mark, and the sausages that we added as extras were minced (not chunks) and too salty. Both my coworker and I ate 1 slice each and we ended up taking the rest back home....only to toss it about a week later. I don't even remember the last time pizza was so bad that I only ate 1 slice at dinner. The drinks, while acceptable, were completely forgettable. For the quality and preparation, I think Stella is horrendously overpriced. If you want a good place to enjoy the restaurant environment, I see no reason to head over to their sister restaurant (Summer House), which I believe you can equally enjoy while eating better food at similar price points.

Stella Barra Pizza is sooooo GOOD! Bit you have to get a tutorial from your server as to what everything taste like. I checked it out for #NationalTequilaDay and indulged in a spirited "Long Faced Dove" tequila & ginger beer cocktail. That drink was everything!
(3)Vicki C.
Wish I could give the place 3.5 stars! Cute date night place to grab a bite and drink but if I need a pizza fix Stella Barra would not be my go to place. Pro's: -Food comes out as it's ready -Friendly and attentive service -Offers outdoor seating -Ordered the Baked Goat Cheese appetizer with organic tomato/toasted bread/olive oil. Delicious! Me (non-white pizza eater), great white pizza where you could taste the herbs.. husband (white pizza expert) said it was "fair" -Offers gluten free menu Meh's: -Dark lighting not great to bring grandma to read a menu but yes to date night! -Personal sized pizza but ouch to the prices -Small indoor eating space best not for large groups Con's: -Ordered the margherita pizza.. nothing special. Wish it came with more fresh basil than the three leaves I received. Could have had a lot more flavor! May return to try something else.

Pizza! Stella barra has a cute set up and love the fact that u can sit at in the bar area and be outside. We wanted to take a look at the menu before we sat down, so Clay, the host was wonderful enough to let us take a look at a couple menus and then seated us at a table outside. Seems as though they were super busy since we only saw our waitress about twice. Clay was the one who took our order and really took care of us. We ordered the Margherita pizza. Clay did mention that most of their pizzas take about 20 minutes to bake, not sure why. When we finally got our pizza wasn't as I had anticipated, the temperature was warm and seems as if it had been sitting under a hot lamp.what also gave me the impression it was sitting under a hot lamp was that the sauce seemed dry. If i could split the stars into categories i would give customer service 5 stars all because of Clay. But since the food was mehhh and we barely saw our true waitress, Stella Barra gets 2 stars. Stella Barra needs to step their game up before &pizza opens or they will lose most of their pizza customers. If I come back, it may just be to hangout at the bar and get a glass of wine.

Great place. Great pizza. Great meatballs and excellent beer and wine. If you have the privilege of Thanh serving you, then you are in luck. Great server and will take utmost care.

A welcome change to the nasty DC pizza scene, and right here in the burbs. Really enjoyed their pizza and garlic bread. 4 stars for getting good pizza to this area!
(4)Erica C.
I'm going to keep it simple and say that I like Stella Barra. The wine list includes some fun, zesty Italian wines. The pizza is pretty standard for a sit-down pizza spot. It's not Matchbox or CS. It is somewhere in between. Stella Barra is a nice addition to Pike & Rose, providing a casual, but not too casual dinner option.
(4)Samantha L.
Stella Barra is located in the Pike & Rose shopping center. The interior of the restaurant has brick and wood wall. Some of the walls have clear shadow boxes with a pair of light bulbs. There are different shaped light bulbs hanging from the ceiling, which gives the restaurant a vintage feel. The restaurant has a dimmed candlelight setting. It was hard to read the menu. The restaurant has up beat music playing in the background. Tonight it was a full house so they said it was a good idea to order an appetizer since pizzas tend to take 20-25 minutes. For drinks, my parents tried the Goose Island 312 Urban Wheat. For appetizers,we got an order of bread which was served with balsamic vinegar, olive oil, and spices as well as roasted garlic butter. I liked how the bread was burnt and crispy around the edges. We also got a Caesar Salad which consisted of chopped fresh romaine, brussels sprouts, celery, and arugula, garnished with shaved grana padano, and served with a grilled lemon. For pizzas, we got a red and white one. For the red, we got the Margherita which was basically a tomato olive oil pie with freshly grated mozzarella and fresh basil thrown on top at the last minute. I didn't like the taste of fresh basil. It would taste better with basil being baked with the pizza. For the white, we got a Shaved Mushroom which consisted of truffle oil, gruyere, melted onion, mushrooms, and fresh herbs. It reminded me of the mushroom puff pastries that I used to eat growing up. I liked how the crust was crispy, burnt around the edges, thick, and doughy.

My favorite food is pizza. If I could I would eat it 7 days a week and for breakfast on Sunday's. Like a lot of my friends, we try a different pizza establishment every town and city we visit. My 1st time at Stella Barra was their official opening day, the service was great when considering it was the 1st real day of running. We had the Egg & Prosciutto Pizza, I thought it was fantastic and I hope that it still is. To me, crust is 80% of a pizza, with out a crisp crust with a nice chew and good flavor, no matter how many toppings you put on it, the best it will be is mediocre. I have found the Stella has some of the best crust I have had in my travels. The people are friendly, the service is good. I will be back.

Tried this place for the first time and loved it! Our server was extremely personable and welcoming, and before we even had a chance to order he brought us a complimentary margherita pizza - just so we could "taste the crust" without being distracted by other toppings. Indeed, the crusts on all the pizzas were exceptional. The margherita tasted extremely fresh and clean - loved the basil. We ordered the butternut squash pizza, the prosciutto and egg pizza, and the sausage pizza. All three came out piping hot out of the oven (they bring them out as they finish rather than all at the same time). My favorite was the prosciutto - fried egg is one of the absolute best pizza toppings, and Stella Barra does it right. The butternut squash came out first and was also delicious, with candied bacon bringing the right amount of savory to the pie. The sausage fennel pizza seemed pretty standard, but I'm probably biased since I was already pretty full by that point. Overall, a great dining experience! I look forward to coming back to Stella Barra!

I absolutely LOVE everything about this place! The service, the staff, and the food exceeds my expectation every time! Just this past week we were there for my Sister's birthday. The staff and service was amazing like always....especially the manager (Jeff) who is absolutely the BEST!!! He made sure our party had everything we needed and is always so friendly. Jeff and his team are truly amazing and he really knows how to run the place! The staff is always on top of things and consistently give the best service every time I've been there. Damien (one of my favorite staff members at Stella Barra) always comes by to say hello and makes sure my table is taken care of even when we aren't sitting in his section. I've never had any complaints about the service. In fact I'm always impressed! The food is amazing as well. My favorites are the cauliflower hummus and margarita pizza. But I always do try their daily special and have always enjoyed it. They have a bar and outside patio that makes dinning enjoyable. Very nice atmosphere, friendly staff and amazing food has really made this place one of my regulars. If you haven't tried this place you are definitely missing out. I'm a big restaurant diner who eats out at least 3-4 times a week, and I can honestly say that this place never seizes to amaze me. I highly recommend this place!
(5)Steven W.
If I woke up in Stella Barra, with the exposed brick, spirited atmosphere and garage door front; I would guess I was on 14th St in DC or the West Village of NYC. I love the vibe of this place! The service is great, from the front of the house to the servers. Everyone seems like they're having fun at work, and they're glad you're joining them for the evening. They described the servings as "small plates," but I would disagree. They are large servings. We had two pizzas, the Caesar Salad, Brussel Sprouts and Burrata. For a family of four, that are not the biggest eaters, it was too much food. All of the food was better than average, to very good. I will definitely add SB to our rotation!
(4)Mimi M.
I was so excited to hear that they were opening a Stella Barra at pike and rose since I moved back from LA and missed visiting the Santa Monica location almost daily. I love taking my daughter there for our "dates" before we see a movie at iPic. Nicole is always our waitress. She is personable, friendly, prompt and my daughter absolutely loves how she always compliments her outfit ;) My favorite menu items are the brussel sprouts, burrata and the sausage fennel pizza. If you're dining with kids and you get there when they open during the week, the chef will teach the kids how to make a pizza and they get to enjoy their creation once it comes out of the oven. Stop by the bakery on the way out and grab a chocolate chip sea salt cookie (or 4) for dessert. They also have a frequent diner club that you can sign up for which gives you constant discounts.
(5)Samantha L.
I got to try this place in the best set of circumstances... In a big group... With lots of food... That someone else was paying for! Everything I tasted was delicious! Favorites would be the Brussels sprouts and the spinach and kale pizza..., but it was all good! Other items we ordered included the goat cheese appetizer... The cauliflower hummus... And a few other types of pizza. You can really tell that everything is fresh and hand made. I would definitely go back and recommend it to others

One of my new favorite spots in N. Bethesda. I've been here a handful of times and the staff is always very friendly, the atmosphere is awesome, and the food and drinks are stellar. On my last time in, a few of my friends went to celebrate a birthday. The staff treated us so well, constantly refilling our drinks (thanks to our waitress Candy) and the pizza chef (Chef Darren) sent us complimentary birthday Panna Cotta desserts - which were amazing! I highly recommend this place for lunch, dinner, drinks and even brunch. Their bloody mary bar is awesome on the weekends as well.
(5)Eric J.
Come here to satisfy all your pizza cravings and enjoy the super amazing weather!
(4)Pab P.
Stella Barra has been open a few months now and it's become the one place at Pike & Rose that I frequent most. I find myself coming here a few times a week because the atmosphere is so laid back and relaxing, the food is good, the drinks are great and the staff is so friendly. Christina and Tim are my favorite bartenders! They greet me by name and I always have a great time talking with them. As a resident of Pike & Rose I've tried all the other bars in this area and none of them compare to Stella and the great service I always get from Christina and Tim. Why spend my money anywhere else?
(5)Lisa J.
Wonderful bartenders. Welcoming regulars. Wine, burrata, pizza but hospitality tops all. We will return to break bread with our new friends.
(5)LN G.
We had a wonderful dinner here on a busy Saturday night. Make sure you join their text mailing list- we immediately got a very high value coupon for a free item. It was a great way to try something we may not have otherwise ordered. The food here is great! We got a buratta, GF pizza, kids pizza, carrots, and GF cookies. My favorite was the buratta- the cheese was VERY fresh and the roasted grapes went with it well. The music was a little loud when we first got to the restaurant but they turned it down about 5 minutes later. Be warned through, the music they play is not censored and there were a few non-kid-friendly words. Still, I do not think our kids noticed and there were plenty of other families there.... The best part of the meal, by far, was the kid's pizza. Our daughter was able to go up to the kitchen and make her own pizza (even roll the dough!). She took her time and was not rushed at all! The chefs were chatting her up and she was having a wonderful time talking to them about what it was like to be a chef. They later made a big deal when bringing out her pizza....it certainly made her day!
(5)James G.
Great staff, both accommodating and friendly, excellent crispy crust pizza paired with just the right amount of toppings, it is indeed the perfect red brick and warm cedar wood setting to settle into some wine over low lit lamps; i'de say its time to dig in. You are a welcomed addition to the area, and a return visit is in order!
(4)Duyen T.
After figuring out that this place shares an entrance with Summer House, we settled down and ordered a kids pepperoni pizza, the sausage pizza and the spinach & kale salad. The toasted artisan bread with olive oil and butter kept our little ones from turning into little Gremlins. Everyone devoured their food when it arrived. The sausage had a nice little kick. The salad could have used a little extra dressing, but the opposite problem would have been worse. To top it off, we satiated our sweet tooth with some oversized chocolate chip and sea salt cookies from the dessert bar. SO GOOD. While we enjoyed the throwback rap and thumping music, the volume made it difficult for conversation. Join the progressive movement and put in a changing table in men's restroom. Moms want a chance to eat too ;-)
(4)will c.
I can't believe my own words, when I say this is the best pizza I've ever had (in a sober state that is). The smoked bacon and goat cheese is my fav, but nothing fails to impress. Must start with baked goat cheese app and get the tomato basil soup to dip your crusts into. And don't forget you can go halfsies on any pizza to maximize your spread.
(5)Jason W.
Stepping into this place I was excited. Good decor, good music and a full bar.... When I finally squeezed my booty into a bar stool it was as if someone threw on the lights at a club and your realize that hot number you've been dancing with is 10 years older with saggy skin and missing all her teeth! The bartender wavy short black hair and oversized black glasses essentially through a menu in front of me...no words ,no greeting and over 15 minutes for even a acknowledgement. She probably could have gave me some service if she wasn't "bitching" about where her bar back was and cursing up a storm ! The bar wasn't even busy. I Tried to order but every time I attempted to place my drink order a server would do their cash out with her right next to me . Finally I got a drink Ans drank it faster and head to another spot. It's the hospitality industry! Get it together
(1)Jen M.
The jury is still out for me but wasn't so impressed on my first visit. I'm the kind of girl that believes all pizza is good pizza. What can ever be bad about bread and cheese?! But for this hot, new spot with pricy artisanal pies, I was hoping for more. My crust was so super thin that the center of the pizza was soggy and seemed almost undercooked. I want to like it so will give it another try and cross my fingers (or ask for well done pizza).
(3)Gabe R.
Great pizza, beer, and service. Had the bacon and goat cheese which was excellent. Had about 8 good beers on tap. Had a Old Rasputin and a Stone Arrogant Bastard. Bartender was cool and attentive. In my opinion it's better than the Matchbox on the pike.
(5)alice t.
Loved it! Great atmosphere, great service and pretty good pizza. Went for a happy hour with the girls and tried out their burrata, meatballs, shishito peppers and the shaved mushroom pizza. The burrata was very creamy and delicious and came with some vinegary grapes and balsamic vinegar. Great combination compared to the Summer house version next door. The shishito peppers are delicious, meatballs were above average. The pizza flavor was great, but they were paper thin. We had the butterscotch pots de creme for dessert which was amazing. And was surprised with a complimentary chocolate flavor one. Definitely not your usual hand tossed crust. I was a little thrown off by that, but definitely can't wait to go back and check out their happy hour!
(4)Rahab K.
Stella barra has only been open for a little while but I've already been there twice, the pizza is beyond delicious, I plan on having the whole menu but so far I've had the house made pork pizza and the Hobbs pepperoni pizza, I like that the decor is much different than that of their sister restaurant summer house, not to mention the bartender Tim is just awesome!! I will be back...
(5)Tim S.
Ordered pizzas for lunch on a Saturday. The place was empty, but it took about 20 minutes to get our food. The pizza say very good. Loud annoying music was loud and annoying.
(2)Leila T.
Ordered the shaved mushroom pizza (Gruyere, truffle, onion, fresh herbs), served over a white sauce. If you are a funghi lover like myself, order this! It was rich, earthy, full bodied flavor. The dough is lovely, thin but can hold the weight of the toppings. The crust is light and crunchy like an airy baguette. My only wish is that the toppings came up higher on the pizza. I had about 2 inches of crust. Overlooking this because of how exceptional the pizza was.
(5)Nadia A.
The food is AMAZING and the staff is WONDERFUL! Especially Damian (the busboy) who seems to always have a positive and upbeat attitude. You will never see this guy without a smile on his face. Thank you Damian for keeping the atmosphere at Stella Barra so warm and welcoming! It's really not the same when you're not there!! And thank you to Jeff (the manager) for being so tentative and on top of his game! You guys are the reason why I choose to dine in rather than take my food to go. ;)
(5)Barry C.
Great pizza! Great service and atmosphere. I will definitely go back.
(4)Richard M.
I liked it a lot. But if you're not in the mood for pizza, stay away as the rest of the menu is somewhat limited. My only complaint is that they keep the music way too high. It's so loud that you have to pretty much yell to talk to the people at your table. I'd go back again.
(4)Laila Bella D.
Do not go to a place that claims to be a pizzeria if they do "butternut squash pizza" Couple of questions;- 1. Are your pizzas deep dish? If yes why you make them thin; if no, then why don't you cut on the ingredients? Pizza should be simple 2. Why do you overcharge? Your pizzas should be priced 8-12 $ not a single penny more. Hello $ 18 is out of control. 3. Our starter was bad it was supposed to be the star dish but I had stale veggies with hummus, So if you ever want to try this place for a night out keep in mind this is not a pizzeria but a California offshoot of some restaurant claiming to be unique with just being low end of the mediocre spectrum. Hay folks keep coming so be warned, we did and never again. Plus; server was amazing,
(2)Jason C.
Nice vibe in here. The bartender was nice and attentive but definitely need two to keep up with the demand here. Pizza was okay. I did the thin crust which be prepared is paper thin. I would like to try this again but nothing blew me away. Had the mozz dip which was average at best.
(3)David D.
I work in the restaurant industry and I was impressed by the bartenders. They were completely at tentative to EVERYTHING. Knowledgable and got your order correct and super fast. Cauliflower Humus with vegetables was so good and healthy.
(5)Halen V.
Really well executed. Comfortable atmosphere. Pizza delicious. Vegetables we had were amazing. Simple, thought out Italian. Well done.
(5)Robert O.
Location: North Bethesda/South Rockville, off Old Geogetown Pike, with difficult parking notwithstanding an adjacent garage. Ambiance: forget the restaurant-like photos you will see online; this is basically a bar that serves food, and it shares an entrance with Summer House, a totally different restaurant. Noise level: very loud, discomforting, designed to turn tables rapidly. Bar: good selection. Food: nuova italiana, good, some selections (e.g., squash pizza) are innovative. Service: fine. Chain: part of the Lettuce Entertain You restaurant group; you can earn credits from dining, you can use credits for dining, but you can not earn credits and use credits at the same meal. Check please. We will not be back soon.
(2)Ken R.
Good selection of Italian reds by the glass . BUT horribly loud blasting music . terrible noise , too loud for a discussion at the yelling level . That's too bad, we will not return. But for the grossly awful loud music, we would be regulars and give this a five star. The Beltway is quieter and more pleasant than inside here. I predict this will close within a year unless they cut off the blare.
(1)Tracy S.
We had a wonderful dinner here. Shout out to Paloma the hostess who gave us a booth and alerted the chef that our toddler wanted to make a pizza. We arrived before the crowds and my daughter had a ball making her pizza. Server was great, not pushy and staff was friendly. Pizza was delicious and chef even roasted veggies for me as a side dish. We would certainly return. Great meal with my family. Thanks to the Stella Barra team and the sweet chef who helped my daughter make her pizza.
(4)Nick C.
The prosciutto and egg pizza is great. Had to come back the following week and get another one. Can't comment on the other plates but do yourself a favor and try this pizza. Oh I did have the meatball. That was good too. Good beer selection and even better staff. Has that neighborhood feel. Bartenders are very friendly and fast. Great addition to Rockville's redevelopment.
(5)L V.
First off, I'd go here again, without hesitation. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because of personal preference - I think the pizza crust is better at 2 Amy's and Comet Ping Pong, That said, This place is still great. The staff is personable and seemed to really care that we enjoyed our experience. We love the decor and it felt cozy and warm, even when it was freezing outside. The music was good, and the food was really high quality, too. We started off with the Fresh Burrata - highly recommend! The smoked grapes and homemade mozz really worked well together. Then we had a pepperoni pizza and the prosciutto & egg pizza. The egg was slightly overcooked and the staff seemed mortified at this - it wasn't that big of a deal to us but they insisted on replacing it -- like I said, they cared. I'm looking forward to our next visit to Stella Barra so I can try another of their pizzas -- you should check it out, too.
(4)Naomi G.
My review would be five stars except for the noise level in the restaurant it is just too loud and in fact the sound makes the room vibrate. There is nothing to absorb the sound in any way with wood and metal all around. The food on the other hand was great. It takes awhile but it was delicious . You must end your meal with one of the cookies Stella Barra shares a kitchen with the Summer House which has a totally different ambiance and menu The parking situation is frustrating but not awful The hours they are open keep changing . We showed up at 5 thinking we were getting there right when they opened, turns out they opened at 4 on that day.
(4)Greg K.
A place like this in our neck of the woods was long overdue. Thank you to LEYE and to Jeff Mahin & team for bringing a breath of fresh air to the residents. I've primarily experienced Stella Barra as a bar patron and have had consistently great meals along with exceptional service from the bar staff. High praise for the meatballs and tomato basil soup. Kudos to Tim, Jeff & Christine at the bar!

It was a busy and packed Thursday night. We were a party of 10 maybe 12. Service was fantastic . We started at the bar. Both bartenders that night were efficient and friendly. Our food service was great thanks to the manager Jeff and the other manager Jeff. They both made sure everything we ordered was perfect. We ordered four different pizzas all delicious . We ordered four different salads and all were delicious. My favorites were the prosciutto with egg pizza and living greens salad. Then last desserts..... Can't leave without having a cookie or cookies!

Fabulous. They took a reservation for our party of ten with a weeks notice. They have a great menu and a great kids menu. The atmosphere was nice and either could be good for a date night or a family night. We were there with our kids and met friends. W kids. Food was all delicious. The mushroom pizza was amazing and so were the Brussel sprouts. The men making the pizza were so kind to our kids. They let them play w Dough while they watched them make the pizzas.

Great ambiance, music and the appetizer burrata but very very poor service.

Yummy pizza! And I'm a pizza snob. Friendly service, great atmosphere... I will be back!

This place was really good in all kinds of ways. Appetizers - Burrata and Caesar Salad both great. The roasted grapes with the burrata were strange, but good - like a cross between a grape and a campfire. Pizza - super thin mushroom and pepperoni both great. Both crusts were good. The super thin was novel and tasty. The pepperoni slices themselves were a highlight of that pizza. We had some sort of awesome chocolate pudding for dessert. Yum. The restaurant was lively and a good type of loud. We liked being able to see into the kitchen. The hostess, waitress, and cooks were all really nice. On a Saturday night we had to wait about 45 minutes (which was 45 minutes less than any other restaurant in that center) and parking was a huge pain. Overall it was really solid. The only thing that keeps it from being 5 stars was that there was nothing super original. But everything that we had was really well done. So this review is between 4 and 5 stars.

Husband and I stopped in before a movie at iPic for a drink but decided to grab a pepperoni pizza to share as well. We sat at the bar and each had a cocktail - a Love Faced Dove for me and a NY Old Fashioned for the husband - both were very good. We ordered the pizza the same time we ordered our drinks, along with another twosome who sat down at the same time and also ordered a pizza (thin-crust) the same time we did. The couple next to us received their pizza timely (smelled delicious and had mushrooms & truffle) as did others at the bar who arrived and ordered well after us - still our pepperoni pizza did not arrive. The couple next to us kept commenting to us how long our pizza seemed to be taking and that they should compensate us somehow so it wasn't just us being impatient. Finally asked the bartender what was up and his response was the non-thin crust pizza takes a little longer (typically 20-25 when its busy). Long story short it was well over 45 minutes before we got our pizza, and while it was steady, it wasn't crowded - no one was waiting for a table and there were empty seats at the bar the entire length of our visit. The bartender gave us a free order of the house-made barrata with grilled grapes eventually due to the delay which was good. Pizza, once arrived, was also good. I honest think there was a mix-up with our order - perhaps not entered when should have been or maybe given away to the wrong table. Nevertheless the food and drinks were good as well as the atmosphere was as well. Would try again.

This has become a go to bar for me and my girl. The bar staff is awesome....Christina, Tim and Jeff will create custom drinks to order and we've said surprise us every time we're there! The bar also has a good selection of premium drafts as well. Been here on Friday nights and Sunday mornings and its quality every time. The organic pork meatballs are out of this world too. Well worth your time to check it out!

Mixed feelings about this place. Sometimes their pizza is great but last time they over baked ours and it came out crunchy as a toast, egg that was supposed to be runny was almost hard boiled. Atmosphere is nice though. Waiters are not very attentive and food may come out separately so in our group each of us got their pizza at least 15mins apart:/

Mehhhhhhhh. So I finally got a chance to dine here last night, but I wish I didn't have such high expectations--for the pizza, that is. I guess I really should have known better, considering this pizza chain originates from Santa Monica, Hollywood and Chicago. Definitely not a fan, and, believe me, I've been eating pizza my entire life. NY pizza is, and always will be, the BEST. No question. We ending up getting 2 pies--Margherita, Proscuitto & Egg--as well as the Cauliflower Hummus appetizer, which, surprisingly, was the best out of the 3. Sadly, I came here for pizza, not hummus. I can eat hummus at home, and it's not going to run me $15+ all in. Both pies were overcooked, as the crust was way too crispy. The flavor on the margherita was seriously lacking, and the Proscuitto & Egg was extremely sloppy and difficult to eat. One thing we found strange was the fact that our waiter kept dodging us. For some reason, he would come for 5 seconds, and then leave without saying a word. The first time it happened, we thought they must be short-staffed or something. But after the second and third incident, we were really starting to get annoyed. Can we please just order?!?! Other than the food, the place has an interesting layout, pretty good music, and dim, cool lighting (especially the fixtures). All in all, this place is definitely way overpriced for the quality of food that's served. But then again, I guess that's a recurring theme for most Pike & Rose establishments. This place needs to step up their game. You guys have nothing on 2Amys and Pupatella.

Vastly outshining the two restaurants across the street from it, Stella Barra (and its sister restaurant Summer House Santa Monica) are welcome additions to the North Bethesda restaurant scene. The pizza was excellent, with a wonderful smoked bacon and goat cheese pizza, as well as a quattro formaggi special that was just amazing. The hand-crafted cocktails were also very nice. (If you're a bourbon or rye lover, make sure to "follow the Doctor's Orders". You'll be more than happy to take this particular prescription, perhaps more than indicated.) The only downside is the really bad parking situation at Pike and Rose. Why the developer didn't build more parking before opening Phase I is beyond me - and, while that's not the fault of the restaurant, it just means less-frequent (and early weeknight) visits on less-busy nights for me.

In the movie, A Streetcar Named Desire, Marlin Brando yells out "Stella,Stella,Stella." I answer "Barra, Barra,Barra.." Okay, so I am not in the movie, but I do like the new pizza restaurant that opened in the shopping center Pike and Rose called Stella Barra. It was the first meeting of our new and improved Yelp Luck Club. We began our meal with the organic meatball appetizer. This was made up of 4 super sized meatballs. They were tender and piping hot served in a marinara sauce. They were a personal favorite. We also had the cheese and tomato sauce dip with rustic Italian bread. The pizzas were unique and delicious. My personal favorite was the mushroom pizza. It had tons of mushrooms in a truffle infused white pizza with a fresh herb taste. I also enjoyed the goat cheese and bacon pizza. The sausage or meat lovers pizza was hot and savory. The margarita pizza was crispy and full of their sweet tomato sauce topped with fresh basil. There was a pesto pizza with arugula that many of the diners really liked. I went in to the dinner with low expectations because I hadn't read any reviews that raved about the restaurant, but I was completely and happily surprised. The food was great and the service was very good. The waiter refilled my water glass a zillion times and always with a smile. Our pizzas were hot and delicious. I was stuffed, but not too stuffed to get my chocolate chip cookie on my way out. Maybe, like the other Stella movie, it just took time for Stella Barra to get their groove on. It was certainly on last night.

Most delicious pizza anywhere. Love the crust. Wonderful service. Great for kids especially if they want to make their own pizza.
